ACHIEVE Health & Performance Mascot Faceoff 2021
Updated on 06/10/2022
In October-November, a new local Riverview, Michigan small business, ACHIEVE Health & Performance, hosted their Mascot Faceoff to give back to their community and provide a chance for local schools/students to raise money. The participants, St. Frances Cabrini of Allen Park and Carlson High School of Gibraltar, competed in three events and let their friends, family, and community on Facebook vote for who they thought should win. The first event consisted of the mascots taking photos to show their Halloween Spirit, the second event was a video of the mascot explaining who they are, why they deserve to win, and why they love being the school mascot. The third and final event was to do a photoshoot at ACHIEVE Health & Performance with the AchV Team and pretend like they were getting adjusted by the Chiropractors, getting soft tissue work done with the Licensed Massage Therapist, and having our trainer Coach Q put them through a workout! The community really came together to support both schools and it resulted in our first place winner, Carlson High School winning $2,000 for their school, and second place, Cabrini High School, winning $750 for their school. From the ACHIEVE Health & Performance team, thank you for the participation of both schools and the support of the community - we look forward to continuing to bring everyone together for fun events like this one in the future!

On November 20th the girls at Cabrini High School held a Powder Puff game as a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Seniors Avery Collins and Abby Portmann organized the event in just two weeks. Approximately 40 girls from all four grades took part in the game with senior boys as referees and boys from all four classes acting as coaches. Through the generous support of the kids, their parents, teachers and the Booster Club, over $1200 was raised. The girls presented a check to the society on December 8th. Cabrini Varsity Football Took Down University of Liggett on Liggett's Homecoming Game
Updated on 06/10/2022
Playing their fourth road game in six weeks Cabrini traveled to Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett for a 1:00pm Saturday afternoon Homecoming Football contest.
The Monarchs opened the contest scoring on a four yard bootleg keeper run by Quarterback Carson Bradley. The point after was lost with a high Center snap. The six point lead did not last long as Liggett took the ball 75 yards on the ensuing possession to score the tying touchdown. The extra point was missed and the score was tied at six all. The score remained tied through the remainder of the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Monarchs took control of the game with two touchdowns with a mix of passing and run plays to a host of players. A pass to Joel Corvaia on third down to keep the drive alive at the Liggett 45 yard line. Also in the mix on the drive was Ryan Kugelman with a 35 yard catch and run to the four yard line. The touch down drive was capped by a Quarterback sneak by Carson Bradley with the extra point kick by Owen Tomsic for a 13 to 6 Cabrini lead. The second touchdown of the quarter was set up by a Liggett fumble recovered by Charlie Kieselbach. A hard running combination of Ryan Kugelman and Bradley led to the Monarchs third touchdown of the game by Bradley on another quarterback sneak and another extra point by Tomsic for a Monarch halftime lead of 20 to 6.
The third quarter was scoreless by both teams. In the fourth quarter Kugelman and Trevor Waltonbaugh combined for hard running ground attack that led to a Kugelman 18 yard touchdown run and another extra point by Kicker Own Tomsic for a 27 to 6 fourth quarter lead. Liggett would score another touchdown late in the fourth quarter and the two point conversion failed to make the score 27 to 12. Liggett would get the ball back and would drive to the Monarchs 25 yard line but the drive was stopped with an interception by Nick Baccella at the 10 yard line to close out the game.
Running Back Ryan Kugelman ended the game with 142 yards rushing and a touchdown. Quarterback Carson Bradley was 7 of 13 passing for a 104 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Owen Tomsic finished the game with 2 catches and 3 of 4 extra points. Joel Corvaia had 3 catches for 44 yards.

Bram Wolf, Ben Maffesoli, Ryan Kugelman and Trevor Waltonbaugh all had quarterback sacks and Kugelman and Nick Baccella had 3 and 2 interceptions.
The Monarchs will be on the road again next Saturday vs Cardinal Mooney High School for a 1:00pm afternoon contest.
