Varsity Track Individual Results From Regional Championship

The Cabrini track and field team came out of the regional championships with their heads held high after a strong performance all around. 

The boys were highlighted by Senior Captain Noah Hamid taking 4th place in shot put with a big PR of 42' 8.5". In the discus Sophomore Billy Eigemann took 5th (119' 9") and Noah Hamid took 7th (116' 8"). To round out the field events, Junior Evan Trohimczyk took 4th in high jump with a height of 5' 5". The sprinting event showed a very strong field but Sophomore Darian Syska was still able to run an new personal best of 12.35 in the 100m  dash. Junior Andrew Riha also set a new personal best time of 24.88 in the 200m dash. Sophomore Thomas Day took 5th in the 110m hurdles with a new personal best of 17.17 The distance team was highlighted by Sophomore Dylan Ortiz placing 10th in the 1600m (5:03.86) and 6th in the 3200m with a new personal best of 10:42.37. 

The girls had a very successful meet taking 4th overall as a team, to become the highest ranked team in school history. This strong showing was kicked off by the girls 4x800m relay, consisting of Sophmore Alana Maffesoli and Freshmen Ania Ghazzawi, Angel Ghazzawi and Lily Heath. This first place finish also shattered a 18 year old school record with a time of 10:24.05. Along with being regional champion in the relay, Freshman Lily Heath also took 1st place in the 1600m (5:43.82) and 1st place in 3200m (12:54.81). Following up this performance is Senior Mikayla Trumbla who set two new personal bests to take 4th in the 200m (27.40) and 4th in the 400m (1:02.84). These times also set Mikayla as the fastest times in all 3 sprinting event (100m, 200m, 400m) in the past 20 years. to round out the distance events Freshmen Angel Ghazzawi and Ania Ghazzawi took 5th (2:40.80) and 7th (2:44.64) ,respectively, in the 800m. Junior Jenny Chen took 4th in the 300m hurdles with a new personal best of 53.49. Field events saw three more personal best when Sophmore Alana Maffesoli took 6th in shot put (28' 7.75") Junior Grace Sabo took 6th in long jump (14' 2") and Freshman Ania Ghazzawi took 8th in the long jump (13' 11"). To round out the night the 4x400m relay team of Ania Ghazzawi, Angel Ghazzawi, Alana Maffesoli and Mikayla Trumbla took 5th place with a time of 4:34.80.
