Varsity Track has Several Athletes Ranking in the Top Ten for Their Events

Leading up to regionals the Cabrini track and field teams have several athletes ranking in the top 10 for their respective events. At this meet the top two places in each event qualify for the state championships taking place in Grand Rapids. For the boys, Dylan Ortiz is ranked 9th in the 1600m (5:02.72) and 8th in the 3200m (10:59.90). Thomas Day sits in 10th for the 110m Hurdles with a time of 18.02. The boys 4x100m relay is ranked 7th and the 4x200m relay is ranked 8th. The other two relays(4x400 and 4x800) are ranked 10th and 9th respectively. In the field events Noah Hamid sits in 6th for the shot put (40' 8") and 5th in discus (121' 11"). Billy Eigemann is ranked 6th in discus with a throw of 120' 11". Evan Trohimczyk is tied for 5th in high jump with a height of 5' 10".

The girls are projected to have a strong showing starting with Mikayla Trumbla being ranked 4th in the 200m (27.89) and 3rd in the 400m (1:04.26). Angel Ghazzawi is sitting in 7th for the 400m (1:07.55) and 5th in the 800m (2:43.41). Ania Ghazzawi is ranked 2nd in the 800m (2:38.41) and 7th in the 3200m (13:46.66). Lily Heath is sitting in 5th in the 1600m (6:05.19) and 2nd in the 3200m (13:07.44). Alana Maffesoli is ranked in both running and throwing events with a rank of 10th in the 1600m (6:18.55) and 10th in shot put (27' 11"). The sprint relays (4x100m and 4x200m) are sitting in 8th and 7th respectively. The longer relays are looking at a strong chance of qualifying for states with a 3rd place rank in the 4x400m and a 3rd place rank in the 4x800, both only being behind by seconds.
