On Monday May 2nd, the Cabrini Softball team traveled to Macomb County to face Lutheran North in a CHSL doubleheader, unfortunately it wasn't a good trip as they lost both games 11-1 and 12-2.
There weren't many highlights, but as Coach Stephanie Plona said, "You cannot take away that Lutheran North is a very good, hard-hitting team, but overall we beat ourselves up this day. Errors piled up both games that would have kept us in striking distance had we executed the plays as we know how to do."
In the first game the Monarchs managed only four hits, two by Freshman Aryanna Sandusky, one of which was a double. Senior Ella Nowc and Junior Mary Schantz also contributed singles. The only Cabrini run was scored by Nowc who singled, was moved to second by Sophomore Brianna Manning, who laid down a sacrifice bunt. Nowc then scored on Sandusky's double.
Game two wasn't much better offensively, as the Monarchs managed only three hits. Sandusky had another double, Sophomore Ashly Pelc had a single, but the lone highlight was Senior Samantha Graf hitting her first high school home run.
The Monarchs hope to rebound on Wednesday, May 4th when they host Westland Huron Valley Lutheran in a non-league contest.
