On April 26th, the Cabrini softball team hosted Madison Heights Bishop Foley in a CHSL doubleheader. In game one, Foley was held to just one hit by sophomore pitcher Brianna Manning, but it was a big one as it drove in the only run of the game. Coupled with two Monarch errors, it proved to be the difference. Manning struck out six while walking four.
Cabrini managed only two hits in the pitchers duel. A double by Manning and a single by Freshman Sarah Neubecker was the only offense the Monarchs could generate, in falling 1-0.
The second game had more offensive firepower on both sides of the field, and Cabrini went on to win 4-2. Manning went the distance allowing just one base on balls while striking out 7. She had some defensive assistance from her catcher Senior Samantha Graf who picked off a Foley runner trying to steal second.
Offensively Freshman Aryanna Sandusky had another home run and drove in two runs with another two hit game. She continues to impress with her power. Manning had her second double of the day to go along with a single to help her cause. Graf had two singles and pilfered a base. Senior Ella Nowc had a single and drove in a run and Sophomore Madison Lewicki also contributed a base hit.
The Monarchs next contests are April 28th ay Cabrini, when they host Birmingham Marian in a makeup doubleheader where the two teams will split being the home team.
