On Tuesday May 4th, the Cabrini softball team hosted Farmington Hills Mercy in a league contest. Mercy, which is ranked #6 in the state, defeated the Monarchs 4-1. It was a pitchers duel through six innings with Mercy ahead 2-1, but in the seventh they broke through for 2 insurance runs to seal the victory. Senior pitcher Mackenzie Noah recorded 8 K's and yielded only seven hits. The last two runs scored on a defensive miscue by the young Monarchs. Cabrini was held to just 2 hits, both by their upperclassmen, Noah had the lone RBI, fellow Senior Wyndhem Reid had a double and Junior Ella Nowc recorded a single.
The second game was nothing like the first. The Monarchs could only muster two runs, while Mercy was off and running to a 10-2 victory. Reid had 2 hits, scored a run and had one of the Cabrini RBI's. Freshman Brianna Manning also contributed a hit and drove in the other run. Noah and Sophomore Elaine Teed were the only other Monarchs to reach base on a hit.
