On Wednesday, April 28th. the Cabrini softball team hosted Birmingham Detroit Country Day in a non-league contest. The Monarchs came away with a 4-3 victory. Senior pitcher Mackenzie Noah struck out 6 Yellow Jackets and limited them to 6 hits. She also drove in one of the four Monarch runs.
Fellow Senior Wyndem Reid went 2-3, scored 2 runs and also had an RBI. Freshman Brainna Manning went 2-3, had 1 RBI and scored a run. Sophomore Mary Schantz though had an even bigger day. She went 2-3, had 1 RBI, one of her hits was a double. In the sixth inning, she singled, and went to second on a passed ball. Schantz then attempted to steal third. The throw from the catcher sailed into left field and she scampered home with the eventual winning run.
The Monarchs next game is Friday, April 30th, when they travel to Riverview to face Gabriel Richard in a CHSL contest.
