On Wednesday the Monarchs softball team returned to action to face PSL runner-up Detroit Western International. The Monarchs, who had lost a heart breaker to Regina in the Catholic League final, 3-2, returned to play with a vengeance. Sophomore pitcher Mackenzie Noah struck out 12 in the game that was called after five innings due to the mercy rule being put in to effect.
Cabrini, which won by a score of 11-1were led by freshman catcher Lilly Vallimont, who had 3 RBI and two hits. Her sister, junior shortstop Michaleigh also had 2 hits, had 2 RBI and scored 3 times. Junior third basemen Mackenzie Schick and Senior left fielder Madison Buerkle each had 2 RBI.
The Monarchs scheduled game against Detroit Renaissance on Thursday was cancelled. Cabrini returns to action on Wednesday to face Richmond on the road, followed by their hosting of the first round of Districts on Saturday. Go Monarchs!
