On Monday, the Cabrini softball team traveled to Wixom to take on the Stars of St. Catherine's in a non-league game. The Monarchs swept the doubleheader by scores of 11-1 and 19-3.
Sophomore pitcher Mackenzie Noah dominated the Stars from the start of the first game striking out 11 and limiting St. Catharine's to only two hits. Offensively, Junior shortstop Michaleigh Vallimont led the attack with three hits and four RBI, with three of those coming on a blast over the left field fence. Junior first baseman Caleigh Muglia also had a big game driving in four runs and hit the first home run of her high school career.
In the second game, Michaeleigh Vallimont scored 3 runs, and had 4 RBI, three of those coming on a home run. Mackenzie Schick scored 3 runs, Lily Vallimont scored 3 times, had 3 hits, 4 RBI and a long homer to left. Vivianna Gonzalez contributed again with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI, Noah had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Muglia scored twice, had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Wyndhem Reid had 2 hits, scored twice and had 3 RBI.
Overall, a good effort by the Monarchs. Their next game is at home on Wednesday when they will be facing Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard in the Catholic League semi-finals, followed by a trip to Madison Heights to play Bishop Foley.
