On Thursday the Cabrini softball team faced off against Livonia Clarenceville in a non-league contest. The overmatched Clarenceville team who was without their number one pitcher was no match for the Monarchs. Fueled by 13 walks the Monarchs cruised to a 16-0 victory in only four innings due to the mercy rule being put in to effect.
Junior Vivian Gonazlez started for the Monarchs and for the most part stifled the Clarenceville girls, giving up only one hit and striking out six. She also contributed to her effort with 2 RBI.
The Monarchs as a whole were patient at the plate as evidenced by the numerous bases on balls, but also came up with some timely hitting and baserunning. Junior Michaleigh Vallimont scored 3 times, had 2 RBI and stole 3 bases. Her fellow classmate Mackenzie Schick scored twice and also had 2 RBI. Freshman Lily Vallimont scored four runs and had 4 stolen bases. Sophomore Mackenzie Noah, had RBI, scored twice and had two hits. Noah who usually has a courtesy runner while she's on the mound played first and dazzled(?) everyone with four stolen bases. Junior Caleigh Muglia scored twice and fellow Junior Emma Delctto had two stolen bases despite being hampered with a bad leg. Freshman Samantha Graf, in her first extended playing time, drove in runs to cap the victory.
The Monarchs now go on the road to Beaverton for their annual mid-season tournament to face the likes of Standish and Reese in the first rounds on Saturday. When they return after the Easter break, they will face the always dangerous Divine Child in a home contest on Tuesday, April 30th.
