Girls Softball Hosted Regina

The Monarchs hosted Regina in another epic softball clash pitting Goliath v. David (based on enrollment.)  David (the Monarchs) prevailed in this extremely tight contest 3-2. Mackenzie Noah once again prevailed striking out 8 and squelching a big Regina rally in the sixth inning.

Prior to that it was the Freshman Lilly Vallimont show. She led the Monarchs with 3 hits, and all 3 RBI. Vallimont had a single and double driving in her sister Michaleigh with two of the runs and then followed that with a drive over the center field fence for run number three. She was denied the opportunity to hit for the cycle when Regina Coach Diane Laffey opted to issue her an intentional pass in her last at bat.

Once again the Monarchs defense came up with some key plays led by Junior second baseman Vivian Gonzalez and Senior right fielder Madelyn Kugelman. Smart base running from Junior Emma Delcotto and sacrifice bunts by Senior Madison Buerkle and Junior Mackenzie Schick, put Cabrini runners in scoring position on several occasions, but Regina came up with some big plays to deny any additional scoring.

The Monarchs next game is on the road at Livonia Clarenceville, Thursday at 4:30. They follow that up with a road trip to Beaverton this weekend for their annual mid season tournament, where they will be facing teams from Reese and Standish among other mid-Michigan teams that are entered to play.
