Cabrini Swimming Competed in a Double Dual Meet

On Thursday, January 6th, the Co-ed Cabrini Swim team started their return to competition on the right foot. The Monarchs competed in a Double Dual Meet against the all boys Warren De La Salle Collegiate and Birmingham Brother Rice High Schools, ending with the following scores: Cabrini – 45 vs. De La Salle – 131, and Cabrini – 50 vs. Brother Rice – 110.  Despite the scores, and even though they experienced a few hiccups over the Christmas break, including missing a week of practice due to Covid protocols, the Monarchs came out strong in their first competition back.

Collectively the team earned 27-Personal Records, 1-Season Record, 12-First Time Swims, and 1 State Cut! To start the night, Cabrini turned in four Personal Records and nini First Time Swims in the 200 Medley Relay, including the A Relay of Sophomore Drew Bylow, Seniors Lauren Schulte and Lily Heath, and Junior Chris Russelburg securing a 3rd place finish.  Next was Freshman Ralph Kaleniecki swimming the 200 Freestyle for the first time, and earning a well-deserved time of 2:52.45.  Following that, Bylow earned another State Cut, his 4th this season, by swimming a 2:08.35 in the 200 Individual Medley.

In the 50 Freestyle event, Senior Cassidy Glazier, Juniors Taylor Bonar, Kieran Fix, Sophomore Tyler Noah and Freshmen Jenny Day and Faith Sterling all turned in personal best times.  To keep the momentum going, Bylow, Kaleniecki, Sophomore Ella Brash, and Freshman Gio Rea each earned a Personal Record in the 100 Freestyle event. Other highlights include  Bonar dropping 13 seconds in the 500 Freestyle, an event she hadn’t swam in 2 years, along with Brash and Senior Joseph Berro securing personal bests in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke respectively. To end the night, the relay team of Fix, Kaleniecki, Rea, and Freshman Mia Rossman all turned in personal best splits in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
