This past Saturday, Dec. 7th, the Cabrini Monarchs traveled to Crestwood High School for their annual season opening event, the Charger Relays. The Monarchs placed second in a field of 6 teams. It was a great kick off event! The team swam great with most of our veterans getting back to their last season form right out of the gate. One of our Seniors, Tanner Pogorzelski even set a PR (Personal Record) in his 50 freestyle split.
Here are the team results:
AA Gabriel Richard 108
St Frances Cabrini 78
Redford Union 48
Fordson 48
Crestwood 20
Garden City 14
The Monarchs placed in the top three in every event but one. Cabrini's 200 free relay team of junior Thomas Day, seniors Daniel Misovich and Evan Trohimczyk and sophomore Lily Heath took home the sole first place of the afternoon by racing past the AAGR team for the victory. The Monarchs also had several strong second place finishes in the 200 medley relay team of seniors Chloe Roth and Misovich and Trohimczyk, and Day; the 600 free relay of Pogorzelski, sophomore Kyra Roth and senior Niko LaGreca; the 400IM relay of juniors Rachel Zarb, Lauren Baird and Max Iglesias and Chloe Roth, the 200 Backstroke relay team of Chloe Roth, Niko LaGreca, Kyra Roth and Lily Heath; the 400 freestyle relay of Thomas Day, Lily Heath, Daniel Misovich and Evan Trohimczyk.
Cabrini's next contests will be this Friday and Saturday, Dec.13th and 14th, as they travel to Dundee, Michigan for the annual SMISL Relays at Dundee High School.
