Cabrini Swimming & Diving SMISL League Championship

In addition to Saturday’s Catholic League event, the remaining 14 Monarch swimmers traveled to Dundee this past Saturday to compete in the SMISL league championship.  The results were equally as impressive at this event with the team setting 23 additional PR’s and 2 additional SR’s.  Here were some of the highlights.

Junior Tanner Pogorzelski started the day off with a PR swim in the 200 free, dropping 13 seconds off his old mark.  He continued his day with another record swim in the 100 free by shaving another 2 seconds of the mark he set on Friday.  Tanner finished his day with one final record split in the 200 free relay when he cut another second off his previous mark.  Sophomore Pratham Patel and Freshman Kyra Roth also swam the 200 free in record time with Patel cutting 16 seconds and Roth trimming 3 seconds.  Both Patel also dropped 7 seconds in the 100 backstroke.  In the 50 free four of the eight Monarchs that entered the event had time drops.  Max Iglesias, Lauren Baird, Vivianna Gonzalez and Grace LaDuke all shaved time off their PR.  Gonzalez and LaDuke also cut time in their 100 free dropping 3 and 8 seconds respectively.  Teammate Rachel Zarb also dropped time in the same event shaving nearly a second off her old record.  The final individual highlight of the event was Junior Grace Sabo in Diving.  Earlier in the week, Sabo traveled down to Dundee and finished 4th in one meter diving.  No matter where the Monarchs competed they turned in a stellar performance.  It was a day everyone could be proud of. The coaching staff couldn’t have scripted a more successful ending to our swim season!
