On Thursday, the Cabrini Monarchs and Allen Park Jaguars squared off for their final dual meet of the regular season in their annual joint parent/senior night event. Coming off of two difficult losses last week, the Monarchs headed into another difficult challenge as the Jaguars were fresh off a victory over Wyandotte last week. The team performed up to our expectations even though the Jaguars were too much to handle. The team results of the meet were Allen Park 131 Cabrini 51. Unfortunately the score didn’t reflect the great performances. Here are the individual results from the evening.
The evening started with five of our twelve 200 Medley Relay team members turning in Season Record (SR) performances. Next Mikayla Trumbla and Kyra Roth set PR’s in the 200 Freestyle. Following that, the Monarchs sent Joe Misovich, Cate Day and Rachel Zarb into the 200 IM and all three ended up with a SR time. In the 50 Freestyle, Evan Trohimczyk scored the only first place finish of the evening for the Monarchs. Trohimczyk’s fellow sprinter, Lily Heath turned in her own victory by knocking off nearly half a second from her previous PR. In Diving Grace Sabo finished second setting her own PR blowing past the old mark by 16 points. In the 100 Butterfly, Joe Misovich finished second, narrowly touching out the next Jaguar swimmer. Next in the 100 Freestyle, Trohimczyk followed up his sprint victory with a second place finish while four additional teammates, John Phan, Krya Roth, Rachel Zarb and Vivianna Gonzalez all set PR marks in the event. In the 500 Freestyle, the Monarchs entered three athletes that raced for the first time in a distance event. Tanner Pogorzelski, Mikayla Trumbla and Pratham Patel all bettered their seed times and set SR marks. Following up the distance race, the 200 Freestyle relay team of Thomas Day, Joe Misovich, Daniel Misovich and Evan Trohimczyk were touched out at the wall finishing second. In the final event of the evening, Thomas Day, Lily Heath, Tanner Pogorzelski and Daniel Misovich swam to a second place finish in the 400 Freestyle relay. It was a tough loss for our team but a solid effort from our swimmers and diver in our final dual meet.
The Monarchs next stop is the Catholic League Championships at the Livonia Recreation Center (LRC) on March 1st. On March 2nd, the team will split into two teams with a small group headed back to the Catholic League at LRC and the rest competing in the SMISL League Championship at EMU.
