SMISL Swimming & Diving Relays

The Cabrini Monarchs traveled to Dundee High School this Saturday to compete in the SMISL Swimming & Diving Relays.  The six team field finished as follows: Riverview 398, Woodhaven 382, Dundee 372, Lincoln 292, Erie Mason 280, St. Frances Cabrini 186.  The Monarchs turned in another great performance turning in season best performances for 57% of their entries.  Here are the top six finishes for Cabrini in the 11 event format.
The Monarchs kicked off the competition with a 5th place finish in Diving by Grace Sabo and Kyra Roth on Friday evening.  Saturday morning started with a 3rd place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of Thomas Day, Lily Heath, Jonas Raiha and Evan Trohimczyk.  In the 500 Crescendo Relay and 300 Backstroke Relay, Cabrini turned in two 5th place finishes with the teams of Jonas Raiha, Cate Day, Daniel Misovich, Evan Trohimczuk and Thomas Day in the Crescendo and Lily Heath, Cate Day, Jonas Raiha and Chloe Roth in the Backstroke.  Next, the team of Lauren Baird, Jimmy Hao, Thomas Day and Daniel Misovich finished 6th in the 300 Breaststroke Relay.  Cabrini’s final top 6 finish came in the 600 Freestyle Relay where the team of Evan Trohimczyk, Chloe Roth and Daniel Misovich finished in 3rd in one of the most exciting races of the afternoon.  The Monarchs Trohimczyk and Roth swam their legs of the relay and kept the team in contention for a top three finish but it would take a gutsy swim from Misovich to hold off Woodhaven’s relay team in the final 10 yards to pull it off.  With less than 2 yards left in the race, Misovich powered past his competitor and touched out his competition by one - one hundredth of a second.  It was and exciting end to an exciting day.  The team ended up scoring more points than in previous years and beat up on their seed times in every event.
Cabrini’s next stop will be at Taylor Truman High School for a double dual meet between Woodhaven, Taylor and Cabrini on Thursday.  The Monarchs will follow that up with a trip to the Warrior Invitational on Saturday at Allen Park HS.
