The award was established by the Dalla Vecchia family in 2016 to honor “The Godfather” of Cabrini Hockey and his 30 year commitment to the program.  Mr.“D” was inducted into the Allen Park Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 “ For High Achievement, Dedication and Inspiration to Our Youth”, as well as being the “Driving Force of Cabrini’s Hockey Team”.

Recipient of the Jim Dalla Vecchia Memorial Hockey Award this year was chosen by Riverview/Cabrini Unified coaching staff, Cabrini Pastors, Principal, Athletic Director, and Christian Service/Youth Ministry personnel, and must demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the ice, service to school and community, academic excellence, leadership, and integrity.

Hayden  received a monetary gift for use in financing his future educational goals and his name has been added to plaques at the Allen Park Ice Arena, the Cabrini High School hallway, and he received a smaller plaque to commemorate the honor of being selected this year’s recipient..
