On Saturday, Feb. 12th, the Cabrini/Riverview hockey team competed in the annual Breast Cancer game against Gibraltar Carlson at Kennedy Arena in Trenton. The event raised over $3500 for this special cause. The teams wore pink jerseys in honor of all breast cancer victims and survivors. As usual it was a very powerful night for everyone who has either lost a loved one or is dealing with this horrible disease. The teams want to publicly thank all the participants and those who donated to the event.
In a hard fought game, the united team came out on top 3-0. The game was a tight contest from the beginning, with neither team scoring in the first period. The Monarchs/Pirates got on the board first with a goal by Senior Carson Mugula with an assist by fellow Senior Hayden Kieltyka. The period ended with Cabrini/Riverview on top 2-0 thanks to the second goal of the period being an unassisted goal by Kieltyka.
The third goal of the game, which gave the team much needed breathing room, was scored by Sophomore Jordan Szuch with assists by Muglia and Senior Luke Osman. Senior Goalie Josiah Dembrosky once again came up big in pitching a shutout during a stellar performance turning back all 31 Carlson shots.
