Monarchs Varsity Hockey Took on St Mary's Catholic Central with a Nice 4-1 Win

The Cabrini Hockey Team finished their season on a sour note due to Covid restrictions.  The boys had to opt out of the regionals due to a positive case and contact tracing. Additionally they had planned a post season match with Southgate, which also had to be canceled.  The truly sad part is that the team, which had been playing shorthanded all year and with just one goalie was just beginning to come into their own.

On Mar. 12th, Cabrini faced off against Monroe St. Mary's Catholic Central (SMCC), and came away with a 4-1 win in a hotly contested match. Hotly contested, because a goal was taken away from SMCC after an intermission, a rarity in itself, due to a rules violation brought to the officials attention by Cabrini Head Coach Matt Grant.

The Monarchs were led to victory in a well balanced attack with goals by Kielb and fellow Senior Jacob Roman as well as goals by Kieltyka and Junior Bram Wolf.  Junior Braeden Goers had two assists, while Jacob Roman, Hayden Kieltyka, Carson Muglia, Ian Kielb and Senior Matthew Schultz all contributed one assist. In all, seven Monarchs tallied points in the contest.

Once again, it was Hiuser, who has committed to play at Adrian, who stood tall in the net and shut down numerous SMCC scoring chances. Again a good final week, but a sad ending to one of the strangest seasons a hockey team has faced.
