After consulting with Cabrini Hockey Coaches, our parish Priests, High School Principal, Athletic Director, Christian Service and Youth Ministry personnel, the family of Jim Dalla Vecchia, proudly awarded a monetary gift and plaque to Assistant Captain Nick Brown.
Nick met the criteria established by the family of Jim Dalla Vecchia (Manager of the Cabrini Hockey Team for over 30 years) of Sportsmanship: a team player who displayed good sportsmanship, avoided unnecessary penalties, led by example, and contributed to the overall success of the team this year; Service to School and Community: involved in community service projects, representing Cabrini High School in a favorable light; Academics: sought a balance between hockey and academics and set goals for himself, striving to achieve those goals in the classroom, recognizing the importance of education, and lastly, Leadership and Integrity: and independent thinker who could be counted on to do the right thing, even when no one was looking, and someone others looked to as an example of how to conduct themselves.
His name joins those of previous winners, Jake Brithinee (2015-16), Aaron Taylor (2016-17), Brian Greifenberg (2017-18), and Alex Teed (2018-19) on a plaque displayed in the High School, near the hockey trophies showcase, and a second plaque displayed in the team dressing room at the Allen Park Ice Arena. Congratulations to Nick, and best wishes for success in all future endeavors!
