Cabrini Hockey Defeats Metro League Wests 1st Place Riverview Pirates on Wednesday 4-3

The Monarchs hosted the Riverview Pirates on Wednesday night in a big Metro League game. The Monarchs won the contest by a score of 4-3 which now gives them a four game winning streak heading into this weekend’s contest against University Liggett at 5:00pm at the Allen Park Rec Center.

Wednesday’s game opened up with the Monarchs scoring the first two goals early in the first period. Senior forward, Luke Metropoulos netted the first goal with assists by Senior Nick Brown and Sophomre Hayden Kieltyka. Sophomore Andrew Seminara then scored on a nice play in front of the Pirates net with Metropolous picking up the assist to make it 2-0. The Pirates then answered back late in the first period with goals coming from Kyler Worley and Julian Johnson. Johnson’s goal came as time expired in the first period.

The Pirates then added their third goal of the game about midway through the second period when Gavin Holmes scored on a nice shot from just inside the blue line.  The Monarchs came right back when Kieltyka picked up his second point of the game with a goal to once again tie the game.

The game winning goal for the Monarchs was tipped in by Seminara, his second goal of the evening, off a hard shot from the point by Senior Evan Taylor.

Junior goaltender, Brandon Hiuser, once again played a strong game in net as he stopped 21 shots in the victory.

The Monarchs next game is Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Allen Park Civic Center, starting at 5p, versus Grosse Pointe Universtiy Liggett. That will be followed by the annual alimni game. Go Monarchs!
