Boys Baseball Sweep Cranbrook in Double Header

Last night, the Monarchs squared off against Cranbrook in two important games for the CHSL standings and would come away with a road sweep! The team mercied Cranbrook 17-4 in the first game in 5 innings and won the second game 5-2. In Game 1, senior Alex Nealey got the start on the mound and pitched a complete game to earn the win, while striking out 3. In Game 2, junior Nick Ballas threw a complete game gem as well, including 11 strikeouts while allowing only 1 earned run. Both pitchers had exceptional games and battled out of some tough situations to help their team earn the sweep!

On the offensive side, it was a team effort to plate 22 runs through 12 innings of play. Junior Jonas Raiha led the charge, going 3 for 6 including a bases clearing double in the first game to give the Monarchs the lead. Raiha would tally 5 RBI's on the night. Leadoff hitter, junior Evan Taylor would also go 3 for 6, while scoring 4 runs with 2 RBI's. Junior Bobby O'Guin had some clutch hitting getting 3 RBI's between the two games. Also, senior Jody Smith was 2 for 3 on the day with a stolen base. The Monarchs return right back to action tonight against Frankel Jewish Academy at 4:30PM at Farmington Hills Harrison High School!
