The Cabrini Monarchs traveled out to Clarkston last night for a tough CHSL matchup against Everest Collegiate. The team would rally together in both games with two come from behind victories, with the final scores of 7-3 and 5-4. In Game 1, junior Evan Taylor made an unexpected start and pitched great with a complete game victory including 8 strikeouts while allowing 3 runs. In Game 2, junior Nick Ballas would come in to hold Everest in check, while striking out 6 in 4 innings of work to earn the win.
On the offensive side, the team had many clutch two outs hits to help propel them to victory in both games. Juniors Bobby O'Guin and Jonas Raiha led the team in RBIs with 3 a piece on the night. Junior Nick Ballas led the team with 4 runs scored on the night while drawing 4 walks. Freshmen Ryan Kugelman and senior Logan Fryz both proved to be dangerous on the base paths with stealing 5 bases and 4 bases respectively. Senior Jody Smith laid down a clutch drag bunt where he would end up coming around to score the game winning run in the second game on a sacrifice fly from senior Jimmy Fister. The Monarchs will resume play on Saturday, April 13th in a doubleheader at Milan High School beginning at 11:00am.
