Just a few minutes earlier, the Lady Monarchs also reached the finals. The girls qualified third for match play on the strength of Freshman Jordan Downham who rolled a 501 series, with games of 156, 167 and 178. Sophomore Samantha Graf, a newcomer to the team this year had a 375 series and fellow sophomore Isabella Cafini followed up with a 313 series.
In the Semi-finals, the Lady Monarchs came from behind to defeat Riverview Gabriel Richard who had qualified second for the semi-finals. After Gabriel Richard won the first game 132-110, Cabrini came roaring back with a 134-11 victory in the second game and 138-106 in the last, to reach the finals against Bishop Foley.
Alas, the Lady Monarchs fell to the number one seed, losing two straight games to Bishop Foley 155-76 and 131-112. Still Coach Jablonski was ecstatic for the girls who were close to not having a full team prior to the season starting. "We were a little concerned about fielding a full team just a week before the season, but the girls did some recruiting and got girls who had never bowled competitively before and this was the result. A great group of girls who just had fun and represented their school in a great way."
Jablonski said districts are next up on the agenda, and he's hoping for good results from both teams. Congratulations to both teams!
