Cabrini Boys & Girls Headed Down to Tecumseh to Compete in the Regional Finals

On Friday, Feb. 25th, the Cabrini Boys and Girls Bowling teams competed at the regionals finals in Tecumseh.  Fifteen teams bowled in this regional. The teams bowled six Baker games, (where each member bowls two frames in a rotation) and three team games. The Boys team won the regional championship with a total pin count of 3518, defeating Plymouth Christian by 224 pins. Riverview Gabriel Richard finished third with a 3286 pin count. All three teams now advance to the State Finals March 4th in Battle Creek.

Not to be outdone, the Girls also became regional champions when they had a 3064 pin count, (that score would have put them in the top six on the boys side as well).  That score was 297 pins better than second place Riverview Gabriel Richard and over 400 pins than third place finisher Taylor Trillium. All three schools move on to the state finals.

Friday, Feb. 26th both teams competed as individuals, where they bowled six games each, with the top ten finishers moving on to the state finals. Junior Jordan Downham rose to the cream of the crop with a total pin count of 1044, besting Abbey Slaven of Taylor Trillium by over 80 pins.  Not to be denied, some of her teammates, who wanted to share in Jordan's glory with strong finishes of their own, came up big as well. Sophomore Brianna Manning rolled an 896 to finish fourth, senior Samantha Graf shot an 837 and Freshman Addisan Schindler finished with an 820. All four will be bowling in Saturday's state finals. Freshman Justine Moore missed the cut by just 27 pins.

On the boys side, Cabrini had three bowlers advance to the State finals. Junior David Kowalski led the Monarch bowlers finishing third overall with a 1099 series.  Freshman Bryce Cadaret finished sixth with a 1050 and Junior Nathan Radke finished with a 1037 to take eighth place.. Sophomore Wyatt Korndorfer just missed the cut by 29 pins, when rolled a 999.

Coach Josh Jablonski was overcome with emotion with the performance of his two teams. "Overall, it was a great showing by tour boys and girls. They stepped up and pulled for their teams when it came down to crunch time. It was a true team effort, and now it's on to states!"
