On Thursday, April 22nd, the Cabrini softball team hosted Riverview Gabriel Richard in a Catholic League doubleheader. In a wild back and forth contest, the Pioneers came out on top 9-7. Senior Mackenzie Noah started for the Monarchs and fell victim to several defensive miscues, despite racking up 13K's. Offensively fellow Senior Wyndem Reid went 2 fo2 scored twice and stole three bases. Freshman Brianna Manning went 1 for 3 and had 3 RBI's, Sophomore Mary Schantz went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and Junior Ella Nowc drew four bases on balls.
The nightcap was a thrilling pitchers duel with Cabrini coming out on top with a 1-0 win. Noah started again and yielded only four hits with 7 K's. The Monarchs were able to muster only two hits, both by their seniors, but only needed one, a long line drive over the right center field fence by Noah that broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning. She then came back and shut the door on the Pioneers in the seventh and Cabrini improved their record to 5-1.
The Monarchs next game is Friday, April 23rd, when they host Dearborn Divine Child in another Catholic League double header.
