On Thursday, April 28th the Cabrini girls soccer team hosted Southgate in a non-league match. The Monarchs came out on top with a rousing 4-0 victory over a fellow downriver rival. The Monarchs got off to a quick start when Sophomore Ava Teed scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of the game. She was assisted by fellow Junior Niamh O'Connell. Later in the half Teed scored her second goal of the game with an assist by Junior Gabby Roa. The third goal of the half was scored by Freshman Carly Roth with assists from Sophomores Maddy Glaizer and Elaine Teed. The half ended with the Monarchs up 3-0. The second half was a defensive battle by both teams, as they denied each other several scoring opportunities. Cabrini was able to break through as Senior Claire Moloney scored the final goal of the game. Senior goalkeeper Rylee Lebioda was once again solid in goal as she and her defense shut down the Southgate attack. The Monarchs next match will be Tuesday, May 3rd when they host Orchard Lake St. Mary's prep in a league contest.
