On Thursday, March 24th, the Cabrini women's soccer team opened their season with a 5-3 win as they hosted Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 5-3. Freshman Carly Roth led the way with two goals, fellow Senior Claire Moloney, and Juniors Elaine Teed and Isabella (Gabby) Roa also added goals.

New Coach Antonio Pizzo, who replaced long time coach Taleb Karaouni, said he was pleased with the effort of this young team. "We were able to get everyone in the game and get them some significant playing time. I was pleased with our strong passing and unselfishness. We played as a team, no superstars. I'm looking forward to our next match."

The next match was on the road at Lutheran Westland on Tuesday, March 29th. This was a much tougher match as the teams played to a 2-2 tie. The goals were scored by Roa and Freshman Madelyn Portmann. Senior goalie Rylee Lebioda, shut down Lutheran Westland for the most part on a cold, damp day. Coach Pizzo said, "I think we controlled the tempo for the majority of the game. We had numerous opportunities and shots on goal, we just couldn't get it to go in the net.'

The Monarchs next match is March 31st, when they travel to Madison Heights to take on a tough Bishop Foley team.
