Cabrini Girls Soccer Results

The Cabrini Girls Soccer team has had a very successful week. Beginning with an away match at Pontiac's Wisner Stadium where they faced Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes.  The Monarchs won that game 3-1. Junior Riley Lebioda pitched a shutout until the closing minutes, when Acting Head Coach Nick Ilderton, filling in for an ill head coach, emptied the bench to allow the whole team to participate in the victory. Sophomore Elaine Teed scored Cabrini's first goal, assisted by fellow sophomore Kriast Mantlow with 10 minutes left in the first half. Clinging to a one goal lead in the second half, Sophomore Isabella Roa scored with an assist by Junior Lauren Schulte. Freshman Amy Tran sealed the victory with an assist from sophomore Niamh O'Connell with about 5 minutes left in the second half.

Next up was Chesterfield Township Austin Catholic who were hosted by the Monarchs on Saturday, May 1st. Coach Taleb Karaouni was back on the sidelines. In that game, with the coaching staff at full strength, the Monarchs came away with a 4-0 win.  Elaine Teed  and O' Connell led the team to victory with two goals apiece and Lebioda pitched a shutout.

Finally, on Monday, May 3rd, Canton Prep came to Allen Park to face the Monarchs. The Monarchs dominated a short handed Canton Prep team, who were only able to field 11 players. Senior Allison Bolinger scored twice with assists by Elaine and Freshman Ava Teed.  Senior Isabella Norscia-Ziembiec scored with an assist from Dang. Norscia-Ziembic followed that up by assisting on a Schulte goal.

O'Connell tallied a goal with an assist from Freshman Madelynn Glazier. Mantlow scored on another assist by Dang. The scoring ended with Elaine Teed getting her second goal of the game with an assist from Freshman Amy Tran. She had scored earlier on an assist by O'Connell.  All in all, six different players scored goals and ten players were credited with points.

Not to be outdone, the defense stepped up and held Canton Prep to just one shot on Lebioda. Coach Karaouni, was extremely pleased by the entire team effort put forth by his players over the last three games. He also thanked Ilderton for filling in for him during his brief illness.

The Monarchs next games are May 6th, when they travel to Riverview to face league rival Gabriel Richard and may 8th when they travel to Chesterfield Township to face Austin Catholic in a rematch.
