On Tuesday, the Cabrini girls soccer team battled Cardinal Mooney in a league match up. And what a battle it was. Cabrini was missing their coach, who had to handle a private family matter. Through the grace of God, (no pun intended), Cabrini's own Fr. Domenic stepped up to coach the team.
After trailing by as much as 5-1, Fr. Dom called a timeout and made a few changes. Was it divine intervention? Maybe, but by the final horn the Monarchs had rebounded and tied the game at 6 -6 with less than 2 minutes remaining. Alex Henson and Abby Formella led the goal scoring with 3 goals apiece. Gabi Teems set up 3 of those goals, Henson who totaled 4 points also had an assist. Hannah Cieglo contributed 2 assists.
The Monarchs are back at work this evening, at 5:30 at home against Cristo Rey. This is a make up match from Saturday which was postponed due to inclement weather. Thursday's match against Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes has been postponed to a later date due to a rash of injuries to the Laker team. The Lady Monarchs will follow that up with a match against Jewish Frankel Academy at home on Tuesday April 9th.
