On Sept. 22nd the Cabrini Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in a meet hosted by Divine Child at Nankin Mills in Westland. The boys finished fifth overall out of the Division 3/4 teams with 198 points. The Monarchs were led by Sophomore Christopher Russelburg with a time of 18:34 (a season best), Juniors Bram Wolf and Carson Muglia finished with times of 19:14 and 21:04 respectively, with Sophomore Braden McKay finishing just two seconds behind Muglia. Unfortunately, Muglia was injured and is now out for the season.
The Lady Monarchs finished first among the Divison 3/4 teams, led by Freshman Ava Teed with a time of 21:39 (a season best) and a top ten finish. She was followed by Juniors Lilly Heath at 22:31 and Ania Ghazzawi at 22:52.
On September 23rd, the teams had another meet, this time at Willow Metro Park. The boys finished 3r, just missing 2nd palace by two points. Wolf led the way with a time of 18:44 (a season best), and finished 2nd overall. Russelburg had another strong performance finishing at 19:03 for 3rd overall, and McKay at 20:34 placed third for the Monarchs and 14th overall.
Russelburg is currently ranked 95th in the state D4 & the boys team is ranked 26th in the state Division 4.and ranked 3rd in the Region
The Lady Monarchs, who are currently in the running to take sectionals, finished 2nd just four points out of 1st. They were led by Teed with a time of 21:37 (a season best) and another top ten finish. Heath finished at 22:47, 5th overall, Ghazzawi 22:55, 6th overall. Junior Ella Nowc came in at 23:42 to finish 9th overall.
The Lady Monarchs now have three girls ranked in the top 100 for Division 4 and the team is ranked 9th in the state D4, and are ranked 2nd in the region
