Girls Varsity Basketball Split 2 Games in 2 Nights, With a Win Against Cardinal Mooney but Fell Short vs AA Richard

The Cabrini Girls Basketball team has had a mixed bag of results this week. First, on Monday, March 1st they hosted Marine City Cardinal Mooney. The Monarchs came out on top with a 37-29 victory.  Junior Ella Nowc led the scoring with 9pts. and came up big on the defensive side of the ball with 4 steals. Freshman Kaitlyn Jabczenski scored 7pts and also contributed 2 steals. Senior Alana Maffesoli rounded out the top scorers with 6pts and led the team with 9 rebounds.


On Tuesday, March 2nd, the girls fell to Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard, 46-29. Playing without Jabczenski, who was injured the night before, the Monarchs put up a valiant effort.  Junior Ania Ghazzawi led the scoring with 8pts and Sophomore Mary Schantz contributed 7pts.

 

The Monarchs who were scheduled to play three games in three nights due to Covid protocols, were denied their third game when Ann Arbor Greenhills had to cancel due to a contract tracing issue the night before in their game against Cranbrook-Kingswood.

 

The Monarchs next game is Monday, march 8th when they travel to Detroit to face Voyageur in a non-League game.
