On Thursday, June 10th, the Cabrini softball team hosted Detroit Cristo Rey in a non-league pre-regional game. The Monarchs came out on top with a 16-0 win after just 3 innings. Senior Mackenzie Noah struck out 5 in just two innings of work and Freshman Brianna Manning struck out 2 in her one inning.
Offensively the Cabrini had bif days from Senior Wyndhem Reid, who went 3-4, had 5 rbi and scored twice. All three hits were for extra bases, 2 doubles and a home run to left field. Manning went 1-1, scored 3 runs, while walking twice. Noah went 2-3, scored twice, drove in 4 runs and also hit a homer to deep left field.
Sophomore Mary Schantz scored a run and had an RBI, Junior catcher Samantha Graf also scored a run and had an RBI, Sophomore Elaine Teed went 1-2, scored 2 runs and had an RBI and Freshman Ashley Pelc drove in a run. Two relative newcomers to the team Sophomore Kaelynn Schindler 1-2, scored twice and drove in two runs and Freshman Nicole Teed went 1-1, scored twice and also drove in a run.
Cabrini now faces Whitmore Lake in a regional semi-final on Saturday at 12p at Cabrini, with the winner proceeding to the regional final at 2p vs. the winner of Rochester Hills Northwest and Royal Oak Shrine.
