Boys Varsity Cross Country

On Thursday, October 22nd, the Cabrini Cross Country team participated in a pre-regional competition at Columbus Township Park in St. Clair County. Both the Boys and Girls teams took first place in this event. The boys edged Marine City Cardinal Mooney by four points, while the girls smoked the competition with the nearest team 34 points behind the Lady Monarchs.
Junior Bram Wolf led the way for the Monarchs with a time of 18:10, good for 2nd place overall. Sophomore Chris Russelburg finished 4th with a time of 18:53 and Braden McKay rounded out the top ten overall with a time of 19:48. All of the Cabrini runners finished in the top 30, with two Logan Eiden and Nathan Neubecker finishing with personal records and Greg Pomponio, Brendan Fix and Joey Berro coming in with season bests.
On the girls side, Freshman Ava Teed finished 2nd overall with a time of 20:15 a personal record. Junior Lily Heath finished 4th overall with a time of 21:52, Junior Ania Ghazzawi finished 6th at 22:31 with Freshman Nicole Teed just eight seconds behind her, good for 7th. Junior Ella Nowc finishing 8th, Sophomore Niamh O'Connell and Senior Alana Maffesoli with season bests and Junior Angel Ghazzawi all finished within one minute of Nicole Teed for a 6th thru 11th finish for the Lady Monarchs.
The teams both qualified for regionals which will be held next Friday at Chandler Park in Detroit. Congratulations and Go Monarchs!
