On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Cabrini hosted a Catholic League Cross Country meet at Willow Metro Park, that included teams from Riverview Gabriel Richard, Ann Arbor Greenhills, Detroit Cristo Rey and Bloomfield Hills Frankel Jewish Academy.
The Lady Monarchs led the way with a first place finish, led by Freshman Ava Teed with a time 21:41. A minute behind was Junior Ania Ghazzawi at 22:41. Juniors Angel Ghazzawi, Lily Heath and Senior Alana Maffesoli all finished in under 24:00.
On the boys side, the Monarchs took second place. Sophomore Christopher Russelburg who finished second overall led the way for the Monarchs with a time of 18:37. Juniors Bram Wolf and Carson Muglia were close behind with times under 19:00 and Sophomore Brayden McKay rounded out the top four Monarch finishers at just under 20:30.
Coach Zander Pollack said he was pleased by the the teams' finish and especially the performances of his underclassmen. "With the leadership and improved performances of our upperclassmen, I'm looking forward to a very exciting season" said Pollack. Cabrini's next meet, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at Nankin Mills in Westland, hosted Dearborn Divine Child. Good luck team and Go Monarchs!
