On Wednesday night the Cabrini Monarchs Boys Hockey Team defeated Dearborn Divine Child by a score of 4-2. In a game that was dominated by penalties from start to finish, the Monarchs were able to overcome the special teams battle and pull off the victory. The scoring opened early in the 1st period when Luke Metropoulos scored on a pass from Austin Molina. Molina and Metropoulos reconnected again later in the second period when a pass sprung Metropoulos on a breakaway and he added to the Monarch's lead. The lead would be held going into the third period as the Monarchs continued to carry the pace of play. Then early in the third period Austin Kieltyka scored a beautiful goal on his backhand from a feed from Andrew Seminara to give the Monarch's a three goal lead.
Later in the game, after a Monarchs penalty, the Falcons scored their first goal of the game on the Powerplay. Then with just a minute remaining in the game, the Falcons pulled their goalie and scored again with a 6 on 5 advantage to pull within a goal. The Monarchs held off the final push by the Falcons then Evan Taylor scored an empty net goal to secure the 4-2 Monarchs victory.
