The Cabrini Swim & Dive team is back again for the start of their 2022 – 2023 season! To kick things off they competed in the annual Riverview Rock N Relays this past Saturday. The competition was fierce this year, and as a team, they finished 7^th out of 8 teams, with a total of 138 points.

Highlights from the meet include a 6^th place finish in the Long and Short Relay by Colin Bonar, Peter Farris, Chris Russel burg, Padraig John, and Grace Kendrick; this group swam a whopping 700 yards in a single event. Another 6^th place finish was secured by Chris Russel burg, Kieran Fix, Lucy Trombetta, and Jack Fitzgerald in the Under / Over Relay. These athletes had to complete one length completely underwater then sprint all the way back.

The duo of Taylor Bonar and Marin Genaw, the team’s only 4 year seniors, competed in the Mid Distance duet, with Bonar swimming at 200 Individual Medley, and Genaw following that with a 200 Freestyle. Their efforts earned them a 7^th place finish. The team ended up in 7^th place in two additional relays: the Short Axis Relay made up of Kieran Fix, Mia Rossman, Chris Russel burg, and Giovanni Rea, and the Long Axis Relay made up of Marin Genaw, Lucy Trombetta, Ella Brash, and Taylor Bonar.

This competition comes quickly after the start of the season, with only 10 days of practice! For rookie and veterans, this meet is a great way to dust off the cobwebs and prepare for the rest of the season. The Monarchs will next compete against Carlson and Riverview on 12/6/2022, then the SMISL Relays on 12/10/2022. Good Luck Monarchs!
