The Newly Inductees Into the Cabrini Hall of Fame 2019

At this time, it is the honor of Pastor Fr. Tim Birney and the Cabrini Athletic Department, to introduce our inaugural class of the Cabrini High School Athletic Hall of Fame… Inductees are elected by committee, and we are proud of their accomplishments as a Cabrini Monarch.

Our first inductee

Father Clare Murphy… The founding Pastor of our St. Frances Cabrini Parish and schools.  Father Murphy’s love of our students, education and athletics led to the dedication of our athletic field as the Father Clare Murphy Stadium.  Father Murphy’s words ring true today “The soul of education is the education of the soul “

The 1967 Cabrini High School Football Team… Finishing the 1967 season 7 – 0 – 1 and winning the Schools first sports title “The 1967 Catholic League Championship”

The 1967 Cabrini High School Cheer Team… Demonstrating outstanding school spirit and athletic talent the Team was a major contributor in inspiring our students, Parish Community and our Football Team in the Championship Season of 1967.

Gordie Bowdell… 1966 Football / a walk on at Michigan State University as a Freshman, Gordie started three seasons for the Spartans 1968, 69 and 1970 and Captained the MSU Team his Senior Season.  He was drafted by the NFL’s Baltimore Colts in 1971 and also played for the Denver Broncos.

Teresa Johnson… 1976 Basketball / the first female athlete at Cabrini to receive an athletic scholarship to a Division I school, the University of South Florida, after the passing of Title IX legislation. Teresa starred as a center and forward for four years 1976 thru 1980 and Captained the USF Bulls Team in her Junior and Senior seasons.

Jessica Smith Koorman… 2001 Speed Skating / a two-time Team USA Winter Olympian 2014 & 2018 and a member of Team USA World Cup Speed Skating Team from 2008 thru 2017.  Jessica competed on the International stage for a period of eleven athletic seasons.

We are proud of our Cabrini Inductees and their success in their respective fields. We look forward to seeing them at our Hall of Fame dinner in the fall.
