Cabrini Monarchs Hockey Catholic League Win

The Monarchs Varsity Hockey Team took the ice on Thursday night against Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard- Greenhills, in a game which would have major Catholic League implications. The Monarchs won the game 1-0 thanks to a huge 25 save shutout by Junior goaltender, Vinnie Marroni and a strong defensive effort by the entire team. It was Marroni’s second win of the season, and it came just one night after an emotional 3-3 tie against A.A. Pioneer the day before. The Monarchs and Irish skated to a 0-0 tie for the first two hard-fought periods on Thursday night. That tie was broken early in the 3rd period when Junior Forward, Luke Metropolous found the back of the net with an assist coming from Alex Teed. The Monarchs would hold off the Irish for the remainder of the 3rd period and ultimately come away with a 1-0 victory. With a big win on Thursday night, it will put the Monarchs at the top of the Catholic League standings for their division. They will once again take the ice on Saturday when they host Jackson Lumen Christi at 7:00pm at the Allen Park Civic Arena.
